All About Chicken Seasoning Rub

Chicken is a very versatile meat, you can do so much with it. It can be prepared in a number of ways, from the basic, to the fancy. It can be prepared to be mild, spicy, or somewhere in between. It can be a bit bland, or full of flavor, the choice is yours to make. One of the easiest ways to impart flavor is with an easy chicken seasoning rub. These rubs can purchased already made in the market, or you can put them together yourself at home. Most are created with items that you probably already have on hand in your pantry. The packets are easy to use, everything is inside you just open them and rub them on your poultry.

This should be done in advance so that it has time to work it's flavor magic. From as short as 15 minutes to as long as a couple of hours beforehand is perfect. If the meat has skin, be sure to massage it in under the skin for maximum flavor impact.

If you want to be in control of your food and what goes into it, make it up yourself. This is perfect for those who are a bit pickier with their flavors or those who want to avoid certain things, like salt, for example. Many premade options have a lot of salt included in the list of ingredients.

Those who like some kick, will love this spicy option. Use the suggested flavor combinations, or come up with your own. Cayenne pepper, and chili powder add a nice spicy flavor when combined with black pepper, onion and garlic powder and paprika. For less spice leave the cayenne out.

If you like something with less spice and a sweeter taste, that's easy to achieve. Skip the cayenne and add brown sugar instead. Yummy and sweet. Or add the brown sugar and keep the cayenne for a taste that's both a little sweet and a little spice. It will surely tantalize your taste buds.

Another yummy option that is somewhere in the middle between spicy and sweet is, to combine garlic power, powered onion, cumin, brown sugar, paprika, opt for smoked paprika, or the Spanish variety. Also add black pepper, ginger, and dry mustard. Mix everything up well, and use it.

It's a great idea to have some of these made up in advance. Keep them in air tight containers in your pantry, then when you need them, they are ready.

Don't think that these are only good for poultry, they are also perfect for ribs, steak, roasts, and other cuts of meat. They are wonderful for those times when you want a truly unique taste. They definitely help you to spice things up in the kitchen. Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices in order to find something that is just right for you and your family. After all, cooking is all about trying new things and coming up with your own creations. Get the entire family in on the act, it's fun, and it's educational. Everyone should learn a few cooking tricks.
