Santa Teresa Orphanages Serving Juarez Orphans

By Deborah Price

Whether living in Mexico, the United States or other countries, immigration is often difficult. While some illegals are being deported, Santa Teresa orphanages are serving Juarez orphans. Many of these young children and teens have never known the concept of family, though many are getting love from those who work at these facilities.

Santa Teresa is a point of entry from Mexico to the United States. As such, there are a number of orphans needing care. As historic downtown El Paso, Texas is only forty two miles south, the town also gets a lot of drifters from the border crossing. It is important to note that while it is easier to cross legally at this port, there are several detention centers within walking distance of this and other border crossings.

Mexican citizens crossing legally into the United States have often discovered that this point of entry provides more convenient and faster access into the United States. The port can still be a dangerous crossing for those without a visa or other necessary paperwork. For, if caught these individuals can face fines or prison time and will most likely be redirected back to Mexico.

Services available include United States and Mexican immigration services, permanent and temporary vehicle exports, commercial and non-commercial traffic inspections, custom brokers and livestock crossings. Most often, the easiest and fastest way to cross the border is by foot whether entering in El Paso, Texas or Santa Teresa.

The crossing is open daily to pedestrian, rented vehicle, private vehicle, commercial and non-commercial traffic. When crossing with a rent-a-car or car share, it is important to inspect the car before reaching the border. Otherwise, if something illegal were to be found that a previous driver or passenger had behind, the current driver and passengers could be found responsible.

The facility is the only port in the area which processes most exported used vehicles for resale in Mexico. Both commercial and non-commercial vehicles can be processed through this port. There are also several hundreds herd of cattle which make this crossing each year. Thus, making this one of the largest import/export facilities for commercial and non-commercial vehicles and livestock along the border.

Border agents also inspect aircraft at the local county airport to assure that all imports and exports are processed legally. While overseeing foreign trade, these individuals are also in charge of controlling international operations. Once an aircraft has been cleared for travel to another country, it can then proceed to a predetermined and approved destination.

For U. S. Citizens wishing to adopt an orphan, avoid long lines out of El Paso, or simply visit the area, this small town can provide an alternate route. To reach Mexico, travel on I-10 and take Exit #8, then proceed westward on Aircraft Road. Once arriving in New Mexico, continue straight and travel twelve miles, note that the street will then have changed names to a local highway to reach this port of entry.
