Also, learn about the system control. Is there a mechanism in place to ensure that the control valves always stay open? This should prevent accidental locking at inopportune times. Is there backflow protection to ensure prevention of contamination? Most of the aspects of system control are quite technical but no harm knowing what is what.

Provision of these protective fixtures is a right of every occupant of the building. It is required. It also gives one peace of mind that if an incident occurs, things will not look too bad. Not to mention well-maintained fixtures may attract discounts from insurance companies.
